Working with layers and transparency give me new insights into facets of pictorial synthesis and the underlying thoughts on form, contrast and colour. Because infinite adjustments are possible, there is plenty of opportunity for experimentation and you are more liable to take radical decisions. As opposed to painting and drawing, a computer allows you to isolate individual picture layers to manipulate them. You can make these layers move in relation to one another and alter the tuning of colours and contrasts. |
