This page previously showed scans of postcards I bought in 1989, featuring photographs by the German-Austrian ethnologist Martin Gusinde, taken in 1923 during his expeditions to Tierra del Fuego. The images documented the body painting practices of the Selk'nam people (also known as the Ona) as part of their Hain initiation ceremony.
